The Capture Site has plans to upgrade its facilities and offer a wider range of activities to both local and international visitors. The Site caters for both guided and non-guided tours, school groups, conferences and can develop a bespoke package to suit your requirements. The Coffee Shop provides a range of meals such as burgers and toasted sandwiches and a variety of hot and cold drinks, including cappuccinos. The sculpture features 50 steel columns which dramatically come into focus as Mandela’s face from a particular vantage point.Īlso on site is a coffee shop open for breakfast and light lunches and a gift shop offering exclusive merchandise. The ‘Long Walk’ culminates at the iconic sculpture, entitled Release. The Visitor Centre is complemented by the ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ which guests are encouraged to experience by following the timeline of Mandela’s life through a landscaped garden. The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a visitor centre and a world-renowned sculpture.
